“Give a horse what he needs, and he will give you his heart in return.”
Equine Portraiture is quickly becoming one of the most requested forms of photography around the world. Tail Waggin’ Photography is pleased to offer both black background portraits as well as regular on-location portraits of your equine friend. All sessions include one horse however we would be more than happy to accommodate additional horses. Please let us know during your initial inquiry or pre-session consultation the total number of horses so that we may plan accordingly. Additional horses will incur an extra fee to cover the added session and editing times, however we will spend just as much time with each and every one of your amazing furbabies capturing their amazing spirits and beauty.
BLACK BACKGROUND portraits are a wonderful option to create fine art images of your horse. All we need is a clear, clean barn aisle or arena opening. Your session will last approximately 20-30 minutes and you will receive 5-7 images to review from which you may make your final purchases. The resulting images are incredibly unique and a wonderful way to highlight the beauty of your horse. Your investment starts at $175 for this session.
EQUINE PORTRAITS, at the location of your choosing, are the second option offered by Tail Waggin’ Photography. While the barn and surrounding property is often selected by many clients, if you have access to a special spot we would love to join you there! If we travel off-site from your barn please ensure that you have obtained the proper permits, if any, for us to be present and shoot. Beyond that, we are thrilled to make any dream of yours a reality through our photos. This session lasts approximately 30-45 minutes, includes one horse, and you will receive 10-15 unique images to review, from which you may order your products. Your investment starts at $250 for this session.
If you would like to be a part of your horse’s session, just let us know during your consultation. This horse and rider session is the third type of equine session offered by Tail Waggin’ Photography. It is longer than the prior two and focuses on the relationship between you and your horse. You may choose to change outfits, such as selecting a more casual look paired with dressy attire, or your favorite riding breeches paired with the perfect outfit to match the season. Lasting approximately 1 hour, including you and your horse (one horse), this session allows us to capture between 20-25 unique images that you may then review and select your favorites to order products from. Your investment starts at $400 for this session.
You may add a black background session to the equine portrait or horse and rider session for an additional fee.
If you own several horses, you may add them to any session for an additional fee. This covers the added editing time during post-processing to ensure everyone looks their best in the final images.
Also, not only do we offer multiple horse discounts for you (the inclusion of three or more horses in your session) we offer barn discounts for black background sessions where five or more horses are booked by different owners.
Please inquire for additional pricing specifics.
Equestrian black background sessions produce timeless works of art that truly highlight your best friend.
Each session is customized to your needs. We discuss and review all details during your pre-session consultation.
Highlight the unique personality of your horse.
Highlight the most beautiful features of your horse.
We don’t just have to use natural light. Just ask and we will be sure to make a few of your images pop with just the right amount of lighting.
Horses of all ages are welcome, and session times will be adjusted to suite the needs of each.
Capture the softness, the gentleness, the beauty of your horse with a head portrait.
Show off that neck, mane, shoulder, or other exquisite part of your horse.
Images that will last you a lifetime.
We will happily accommodate special requests such as this photo of best friends, Cammy and Anna. Please ensure that you make your request during the consultation to allow for us to make the appropriate preparations for your session. Special requests require extra editing and therefor will incur an additional fee.
Let your horse be a horse while we create lasting, beautiful images for you.
We strive to offer several different images, showcasing the personality of your horse.
Sometimes a photograph is more than just a photograph. A beautiful sky, lush grass, the sun peeking out from behind clouds, the perfect red barn, or, other elements, can sometimes elevate what would otherwise be “just a snapshot”. While we cannot control the weather, we can promise to deliver the best images possible, given the best preparation and time during your session.
If you know that your property sees gorgeous light in the morning hours, please don’t be afraid to book a sunrise session. This mini was photographed as the sun broke over the treeline, basked in a golden cloak of light. While every sunrise may not be this spectacular, it is certainly worth taking the chance.
As a general rule, even for on-location sessions, it is highly recommended to make sure your horses are clean, from hoof to tail to muzzle. If you are having portraits done with tack, please have the tack clean, manes braided, and everything else ready to go prior to the session. Mud, gunky manes, and clumpy bits of dirty fuzz are not part of the editing process.
If you are a fan of matte edits just let us know during your consultation. Please note that once you have received your images for review, they will not be re-edited as non-matte files. If you would like to see the images, also as non-matte files, or if you decide that you would prefer the crisper, bolder edits you see on this website, please understand that you will incur an additional cost per image, as it will require additional editing time.
“Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them, and filling an emptiness we didn’t ever know we had.” ~ Thom Jones
And in that moment, our lives are filled with the purest form of unconditional love, and with each beat of their heart their tail wags faster, with each lick upon your face their eyes twinkle that much brighter. And your life becomes a little more complete.
We offer a unique and customized experience for you and your pup. Sessions for your dog, be it a rambunctious pup, a seasoned adult, or a salt and peppered senior, are never rushed. Patience is at the forefront of every session and it will not end until we are confident that we have a series of amazing images for you to select your art from.
After a pre-session consultation we will arrive at your location of choice. As your session is fully customized, you may choose to have images taken somewhere special to you, or, you may opt to have the session at your own home. If we are meeting at a spot that is special to you, please ensure that all proper permits for professional photography have been acquired, if applicable. And, of course, please ensure that it is also dog-friendly. Beyond that, lets have fun exploring!
Through a candid-lifestyle eye, we will both let your furbaby’s personality shine through by, “being a dog”, but we will also gently guide him into several poses to get that perfect shot. This results in a wonderfully varied set of images that will fully capture your dog’s personality.
On the other hand, you may choose to have a studio session. We have the ability to bring the studio to you. This reduces stress for your dog, especially if he is a senior. Studio sessions also give you a wonderful option to add variety to your images. All we need to do is move a little furniture and we can set up all the equipment needed to produce beautiful images, just as if you were in a large studio offsite. We will discuss leashes, collars, props, any concerns you may have, and all other things dog during your pre-session consultation. These sessions produce beautiful posed portraits that are timeless in their nature and look incredible as wall art.
Your investment starts at $250 and sessions are fully customized. Please contact us for additional information.
Customized portrait sessions, for you and your furbaby.
During your pre-session consultation, you may request black and white edits. Your photographer will select those images that best translate into black and white and will present them to you during your image unveiling.
We would love to photograph your dog in a location that is special to you. If it is on property that may require special permits or permissions, please ensure that they have been secured in advance so that we may legally photograph on-site.
If your dog is more comfortable in the home, no worries; this is very common. We will happily come to you and customize a session just for your dog that will produce images that will last a lifetime.
Do you have a favorite spot that is dog-friendly and your pup just loves? Let’s talk about an on-location session. The more comfortable your dog, the more emotion we can capture in our images. Belly rubs for all.
We absolutely encourage props, if your dog is comfortable with their use. Props can help tell a story or enhance your dog’s personality. Let’s chat about them during your consultation.
During your pre-session consultation, we encourage you to come prepared with any special image requests. While we cannot make any promises due to the unpredictable nature of animals, we will absolutely try our best to fulfill your wishes. Knowing in advance allows us to better prepare for those shots.
We always strive to provide you with a selection of images that are unique. Instead of overwhelming you with many images that are similar, our goal is to photograph your dog in a way that offers you a smaller number of well thought out, significantly different options to choose from.
Please be sure to have your pup groomed, including nails trimmed, and eyes and ears clean in advance of the photo shoot. Advanced editing to eliminate these items is not included and we only want your furbaby to look his or her best.
If you absolutely love matte edits you may request them during your pre-session consultation. However, please be aware that your images will either be edited in matte or full color, not both. You may also request black and white edits, at this time. If you opt for matte editing and then wish to see an image edited in regular/full color, a fee will be incurred per image to cover the additional editing time.
Sessions include 2 dogs. Additional dogs (within the same family) are $35 each. Please be aware that adding dogs does not increase your session time. However, you may customize your session further by adding additional time, and even additional locations, during your pre-session consultation.
We strive to tell a story with each one of our pet sessions. Even sessions at the home can result in memorable, heart-warming photographs.
We always try to seek out beauty wherever we go. Whether it means exploring a new area or striking a pose in an unusual spot our goal is to provide you with unique and memorable images.
When photographing multiple dogs we do our best to provide you with equal images of both, individually, as well as images of them together. During the pre-session consultation we will go over any images that you would like but during the actual session we always try to capture images that present themselves in the moment, such as the image above. Sometimes candid images are just as beautiful as those that are posed.
If your dog is shy or uncertain around strangers, that is ok. We know how to work around dogs with these personality traits and will not rush the session. Please bring up any concerns during your pre-session consultation so that we may best serve the needs of you and your dog.
Is your dog young or even just a bit rambunctious? That is just fine. We understand and are completely comfortable working around puppies and dogs that have a little extra energy. We also know that not all dogs will sit still like a statue. We may have our work cut out for us, but we will do our absolute best to produce some beautiful images for you. We have some tips and tricks that we can discuss during your pre-session consultation. So please, take a deep breath. We’ve got this.
Do you love the look of studio portraits? We can bring the studio to you. All we need is a little space inside your home and voila, your very own studio session. Let’s chat during your pre-session consultation.
Would you like to use props during your studio session? That sounds wonderful. Let’s discuss your ideas and come up with a plan.
Yes, you may have two dogs in your in-home studio session. Please be aware that many factors do play a part here, including safety. We can go over everything during your pre-session consultation.
During your pre-session consultation we will discuss your overall art goals for the session. For example, if you are interested in purchasing a large horizontal canvas for over your couch then we can set up our photos to accommodate pieces in that format.
Two dogs are included in a session (or, two cats) but if you have one dog and one cat you may certainly combine the two.
If your dog knows any tricks let’s talk about them. They might translate into a photo well.
We have worked with dogs of all shapes and sizes, from regal, towering Irish Wolfhounds to the tiniest of Chihuahuas. And, we love every single inch of every pup we meet.
If you have an idea for a themed session please do not hesitate to let us know. Whether it is a Christmas shoot that will end up on a card to send to friends and family or just a quirky session to make memories with your pup in the middle of summer, we can make it happen together.
Ask about our ReFUR a Friend Program. We love our clients, and we love making new friends, so lets celebrate our passion for animals together.
“Perhaps one reason we are fascinated by cats is because such a small animal can contain so much independence, dignity, and freedom of spirit.” Lloyd Alexander
Cats have a personality all their own, and to capture it we offer a unique and customized experience that is based, first and foremost, on patience. Cats, of course, run the show. We are only here to serve their needs. Sessions are never rushed and will not conclude until we are confident that we have a series of amazing images for you to select your art from.
Your pre-session consultation will map out the details of your session as well as your cat’s personality. It helps guide us through the day and is an integral part of the process.
As most cats are independent, we prepare to face each session through a candid-lifestyle eye which allows your cat’s personality to shine through by, “being a cat”. If she is amicable to the idea, we will also gently guide her into several poses to get that perfect shot. Toys, of course, are also utilized, if requested. This results in a wonderfully varied set of images that will fully capture your cat’s personality.
On the other hand, you may choose to have a studio session. We have the ability to bring the studio to you. Studio sessions also give you a wonderful option to add variety to your images. All we need to do is move a little furniture and we can set up all the equipment needed to produce beautiful images, just as if you were in a large studio offsite. These sessions produce beautiful posed portraits that are timeless in their nature and look incredible as wall art.
Your investment starts at $250 and sessions are fully customized. Please contact us for additional information.
Celebrate your cat or kitten with a photo shoot of her very own.
A fun session is in order for our youngest furkids. Patience, toys, and a very good human helper make for engaging photographs.
Let us know if you appreciate black and white photography during your pre-session consultation. We will then carefully determine which final images would best translate to black and white and edit them accordingly.
Do you have an overly ambitious cat who loves to be naughty? No worries. We are patient and will do our best to capture some more elegant images… along with a few fun ones as well.
If your cat is shy we will take extra care to be patient and maintain a soothing manner. You may also choose to try a pheromone diffuser in the home, the day of the session. If your cat is extremely shy, let’s chat about the options!
Some kitties can’t get enough of the camera while others can be a bit shy. If you have any particular images in mind, please let us know during your consultation so we can specifically work on them with your cat during the session. While we cannot promise every image due to the independent nature of cats, we will do our absolute best to provide you with an array of unique images that will last a lifetime.
We love photographing the unique personalities of different cats in a home. Two cats are included in the standard session but additional cats may be added for a small additional investment. Ask about our multi-cat discount.
We can bring the studio to you. Just let us know during your pre-session consultation that you would like a studio session and we will make all the arrangements. All we need the day of your session is to move a little furniture for our equipment and we will be all set.
Does your cat have a best friend? Regular sessions include two kitties, but you may certainly exchange one of those spots for a pup, if you prefer. If your dog and cat comfortably get along then we can even photograph them together.
Please ensure that your cats are as clean as possible the day of the session. Clean ears, eyes, and coats are appreciated. As a note, little bits of dust will show up in photographs, especially on darker cats, and editing them out is not included in package rates. If you have any concerns we can certainly discuss them during your pre-session consultation.
What catches your cat’s attention? To best prepare for the upcoming session we will chat about what toys best captures her interest.
As cats are fairly unpredictable creatures, we enjoy photographing them as they are in their element. This produces a nice range of unique images for you to make your final fine art selections from.
Most of the photographs we take will be candid. While we may guide your cat into a pose, or encourage a playful movement, cats are driven by their own agenda. Some cats will be very engaged with us while others may be a bit shy. We will do our best to work with each one to bring out their best on the day of your session.
Some cats accept props, such as necklaces and collars with bows, quite readily, and we love to see your creativity. You may choose to introduce props in the weeks leading up to your session so that your cat grows familiar with them. However, we never want to distress your kitty so let’s chat about her comfort level during your pre-session consultation.
How does your kitty react to catnip? Does she become sedate or hyperactive? Or, is she not affected by the plant at all? We sometimes like to use toys filled with catnip, or the dried plant itself sprinkled onto a cat tree, to encourage interactive behaviors.
Some cats are just hams for the camera. However, we always introduce our equipment slowly to ensure that every kitty is comfortable.
When is your cat most active? The best time for a photoshoot is actually when your kitty has expended most of her energy. Kittens, of course, are seemingly a bundle of endless energy, however it is generally easier to work with adults after they have done most of their exploring.

“We may have pets, but when it comes to unconditional love, they are the masters.” Donald Hicks
Nothing feels more pure than the love we feel in the quiet moments spent with our pets. As photographers, our goal is to capture and embrace that love, along with the spirit, the essence of your pet, and transfer it to a photograph for you to cherish in the many years to come. To do this, we offer a unique and customized experience for you and your pets. As each animal is unique patience is at the forefront of every session. We will not conclude our work until we are confident that we have photographed a series of amazing images for you to select your art from.
And, of course, please ensure that it is also dog-friendly or horse-friendly. Beyond that, lets have fun exploring!
We understand that you may be a bit shy in front of the camera, and that is absolutely normal. Through a bit of guidance we will help you into some poses with your furbaby that will bring out the best in both of you. If you would like, we can also photograph you via a more candid approach. This results in some truly beautiful, varied images that you can make your final fine art choices from.
On the other hand, you may choose to have a studio session. We have the ability to bring the studio to you. Studio sessions also give you a wonderful option to add variety to your images. They are available for dogs, cats, and other small animals.
Including your pets in your session is a wonderful way to celebrate your love for them in beautiful photos.
With a Celebration Session we will capture not only the beauty of your senior but also the special bond developed over the years you have spent together.
If your furbaby is a little camera shy, we will work with you on some more comforting poses that will help bring out her personality.
We love capturing moments shared between furbaby and owner, even those that aren’t planned. We will take many photos during your session but will cull the ones that don’t truly shine. You don’t always have to “say cheese”, so if you hear the camera clicking but you didn’t think you were ready for a photo, keep doing what you were doing because it was beautiful.
While we adore candid photos we will guide you into some posed positions as well. This will give you a nice variety of images from which you may make your final selections.
If you would like to have your session on-location at an area where leashes are required, or, if you prefer the safety of a leash, we can discuss options that will allow us to easily remove them in post processing. While not all images may lend themselves to leash removal, we will do our best to ensure that you have several images to choose from that are leash-free.
During your pre-session consultation, you may request black and white edits. Your photographer will select those images that best translate into black and white and will present them to you during your image unveiling.
Some pets are more comfortable at home, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We will discuss how we can make the most of your session during your pre-session consultation and how we can best incorporate you and your family into your furbaby’s photos.
Do you have a favorite spot that is dog-friendly and your pup just loves? Let’s talk about an on-location session. The more comfortable your dog, the more emotion we can capture in our images. We will discuss how best to incorporate your family during the pre-session consultation. Please insure you have secured all applicable parking and permits for the area in advance, if required.
We can help you with outfit selection if you are having any difficulty. In most cases, however, we recommend wearing what is comfortable as that will result in you being more comfortable in front of the camera. We also suggest, for the ladies, taking a little time to pamper yourselves and having your hair and makeup done professionally. Don’t forget your nails, at least on your hands (and toes, if they will be showing) and please be sure your clothes fit well and are wrinkle and fuzz free. Men, we suggest grooming beforehand as well. These recommendations all will help result in flattering photos. If you will be using any clothes or props on your furbabies, please ensure they are also clean and wrinkle-free.
Your customized session includes 2 dogs, 2 cats, or 1 horse, and 4 members of your immediate family. If you have other pets, a larger family, or extended family, please contact us for further pricing information.
Ask about our ReFUR a Friend Program. We love our clients, and we love making new friends, so lets celebrate our passion for animals together.
We love all pets, from ferrets to parrots. Contact us with your pet’s information and we can chat about a customized session just for you.
Studio sessions are also available for most pets. We bring the studio right to your home. This is convenient for you and reduces stress for your pet. All that is required is to move a little furniture to accommodate our equipment.
During your pre-session consultation we will review any questions or concerns you may have. We will also go over all the session details to help things flow as seamlessly as possible during the day of the actual session.
